What your FIBO stand needs depending on fitness equipment, nutrition, technology or gym management
FIBO gathered at its last edition 1,015 exhibitors and 175,000 visitors. It is a show with a lot of public and a lot of noise, so the stand must stand out without adding more.
Fitness equipment
Large machines on a reinforced floor, with free space to try them and a technician at hand.
Nutrition and supplements
A tasting counter with easy restocking and a clean image that conveys product and health.
Technology and wearables
Demo stations with a screen and stable connection, and seats to see the user's data.
Management and clubs
Meeting rooms with a table to talk contracts with gyms and chains, away from the noise.
Koelnmesse technical guidelines that shape a FIBO stand with equipment in use
The FIBO 2027 exhibitor manual belongs to the organiser. These are Koelnmesse’s technical guidelines, common to its shows, and will be confirmed with the fair’s manual.
See all 5 rules, with their source
| Maximum height | The maximum height of structures, signage and advertising is set for each hall. Exceeding it must be requested from Koelnmesse and approved at the latest six weeks before build-up starts. source |
|---|---|
| Plan approval | The construction approval request is submitted at least six weeks before build-up starts. Two-storey structures, mobile stands and special constructions need approval. source |
| Two storeys | They are built in Halls 1 to 11, depending on location, with Koelnmesse’s approval. Each storey has a minimum clear height of 2.30 m. At 50 to 100 m² they carry smoke alarms, and above 100 m² also sprinklers. source |
| Staircases | No point on the upper floor is more than 20 m from a staircase. Above 100 m², two staircases facing each other are required. They have a clear width of at least 1.20 m and spiral stairs are not allowed. source |
| Party walls and backs | Constructions on the boundary with another stand are neutral above 2.5 m. The backs of stands are decorated in a neutral white. source |

Designing a FIBO stand with a training zone, large equipment and sound under control
At FIBO the visitor tries, and that needs space, floor and insulation. As approval is requested six weeks before build-up, we draw it in the first sketch.
A trial zone
Free space around each machine and a floor ready for the load, so trying is the first thing.
An image that stands out
A clear front and big graphics, to stand out in a hall full of stimuli.
A room for business
An insulated room to talk contracts with gyms, away from the hall noise.
Neutral back
The wall to the neighbour is neutral above 2.5 m, and we design it that way from the first sketch.

What pushes up the budget of a FIBO stand with training equipment and a trial zone
We do not give figures without seeing your plot: the cost of a FIBO stand depends on the metres, the equipment shown and the trial zone. These are the six factors.
Large equipment
Heavy machines need a reinforced floor and supports, and free space to be tried.
Power and connection
Every piece of equipment with a screen adds power and connection, planned from the drawing.
Business rooms
Every insulated room adds structure and reduces the open surface of the stand.
Image and graphics
A front that stands out in a saturated hall adds production and its own light.
Transport and build-up
Producing in Barcelona means planning transport to Cologne and a short build-up window.
Height and second floor
Exceeding the hall height or building two storeys needs approval and a calculated structure.

What FIBO exhibitors usually ask about their stand in Cologne
The questions that come up most when preparing a stand at Koelnmesse, answered with its technical guidelines, until the FIBO 2027 manual is confirmed.
When is FIBO 2027?
On 8-11 April 2027 at Koelnmesse, in Cologne.
What were the figures of FIBO at its last edition?
Per its website, 1,015 exhibitors from 54 countries and 175,000 visitors from 136 countries.
How much does a FIBO stand cost?
It depends on the plot, the equipment shown and the trial zone, so we give no figure without the plan. To orient yourself on the items, see how to calculate a trade show stand budget.
What is the maximum height?
Each hall sets it, and exceeding it needs Koelnmesse approval six weeks ahead.
Can I build a two-floor stand?
Yes, with Koelnmesse approval and a clear height of 2.30 m per storey.
When should I start designing?
With months to spare, because approval is requested six weeks before build-up. See the steps to organise a trade show in advance.
Your FIBO stand, from the Barcelona workshop to the Cologne hall
We build the stand in our Barcelona workshop and take it to Koelnmesse. We install and dismantle it ourselves, within the organiser's hours.
