Brands that trust us as their stand builder
What your Eisenwarenmesse stand needs depending on tools, fastening, hardware or industrial supplies
In 2026 the fair gathered about 2,500 exhibitors from 53 nations. Buyers walk many product walls, so yours stands out by how it looks, feels and compares.
Tools and accessories
A product wall with the tool in hand, ordered by family, and a counter to try it.
Fastening and connection
Sample boards of screws and fixings at hand height, with clear references and data sheets.
Hardware and DIY
Use scenes and displays as in the shop, so the buyer sees how the product sells.
Industrial supplies
A table and a room to talk volumes and catalogues with distributors and key accounts.
Koelnmesse technical guidelines that shape a hardware and tool stand
The Eisenwarenmesse 2028 manual does not exist yet. These are Koelnmesse’s technical guidelines, common to its shows, and will be confirmed with the fair’s manual.
See all 5 rules, with their source
| Maximum height | The maximum height of structures, signage and advertising is set for each hall. Exceeding it must be requested from Koelnmesse and approved at the latest six weeks before build-up starts. source |
|---|---|
| Plan approval | The construction approval request is submitted at least six weeks before build-up starts. Two-storey structures, mobile stands and special constructions need approval. source |
| Two storeys | They are built in Halls 1 to 11, depending on location, with Koelnmesse’s approval. Each storey has a minimum clear height of 2.30 m. At 50 to 100 m² they carry smoke alarms, and above 100 m² also sprinklers. source |
| Staircases | No point on the upper floor is more than 20 m from a staircase. Above 100 m², two staircases facing each other are required. They have a clear width of at least 1.20 m and spiral stairs are not allowed. source |
| Party walls and backs | Constructions on the boundary with another stand are neutral above 2.5 m. The backs of stands are decorated in a neutral white. source |

Designing an Eisenwarenmesse stand with a product wall, sample boards and a catalogue table
A hardware fair is won on the product wall. As any special construction needs approval six weeks before build-up, we solve height and support early.
Product wall
Tools ordered by family, at hand height, with supports calculated for the weight.
Technical sample boards
Fixings and accessories on clear panels, with the reference and data sheet next to them.
Catalogue table
A seated corner, to one side of the aisle, to talk catalogues, volumes and terms.
Neutral back
The wall to the neighbour is neutral above 2.5 m, and we design it that way from the first sketch.

What pushes up the budget of an Eisenwarenmesse stand with a product wall
We do not give figures without seeing your plot: the cost of an Eisenwarenmesse stand depends on the metres, the product wall and the tables. These are the six factors.
Product wall
A tool wall with calculated supports adds joinery, reinforcements and careful finishes.
Sample boards
Made-to-measure technical sample boards add fabrication and graphics with clear references.
Tables and rooms
Every table or room adds furniture and reduces the open surface of the stand.
Height and second floor
Exceeding the hall height or building two storeys needs approval and a calculated structure.
Transport and build-up
Producing in Barcelona means planning transport to Cologne and a short build-up window.
Reusing the stand
A modular design pays off because the fair is biennial and between editions you can go to other shows.

Questions from Eisenwarenmesse exhibitors about their stand in Cologne
The questions that come up most when preparing a stand at Koelnmesse, answered with its technical guidelines, until the Eisenwarenmesse 2028 manual is published.
When is the Eisenwarenmesse 2028?
On 7-10 March 2028 at Koelnmesse, in Cologne. The previous edition was in 2026.
How often is it held?
Every two years: after the March 2026 edition, the next is in 2028.
How much does a the Eisenwarenmesse stand cost?
It depends on the plot, the product wall and the tables, so we give no figure without the plan. To orient yourself on the items, see how to calculate a trade show stand budget.
What is the maximum height?
Each hall sets it, and exceeding it needs Koelnmesse approval six weeks ahead.
Can I build a two-floor stand?
Yes, with Koelnmesse approval and a clear height of 2.30 m per storey.
When should I start designing?
With months to spare, because approval is requested six weeks before build-up. See the steps to organise a trade show in advance.
