What your ACHEMA stand needs depending on process equipment, lab, pharma or digitalisation
ACHEMA gathered in 2024 2,842 exhibitors and 106,001 participants from chemicals, pharma and food. It is a triennial show, and the stand must show large equipment and also let people talk calmly.
Process equipment
Large-format machines and modules on calculated supports, with room around them to see them working.
Lab and analysis
Instruments at hand height, with clean light and a table to talk applications.
Pharma and biotech
A sober image and private rooms to talk processes and projects in confidence.
Digitalisation and automation
Demo stations with a screen and stable connection, to show software integrated into the process.
What we know about stand heights and rules at ACHEMA in Messe Frankfurt
ACHEMA is a guest show organised by DECHEMA, per its official website, which sets its own heights and deadlines in its manual. These are the general rules of Messe Frankfurt’s heights factsheet.
See all 5 rules, with their source
| Basic height | The basic height is 2.50 m. Above it, the back of walls facing a neighbouring stand is smooth and in a neutral colour, such as white or light grey. source |
|---|---|
| Maximum height per hall | Up to 30 m², the maximum is 4 m. For stands over 31 m² it depends on the hall: from 4 m in 1.1, 4.1 and 4.2 to 8 m in 2.0, 3.0, 3.1 and 5.1. Halls 6.1 and 6.2 allow 3.70 m. source |
| Hung elements | In halls with a 5 m limit for hung items, rigging, lighting and advertising are set back at least 1 m from neighbouring stands. source |
| Two storeys | They need plan approval. In Hall 5.0 two storeys cannot be built. source |
| Guest events | These limits apply to Messe Frankfurt’s own shows. At a guest show the organiser sets the heights, and they should be checked on site. source |

Designing an ACHEMA stand with large-format equipment, calculated supports and private rooms
At a triennial show the stand has to perform and be reused. So we decide early how heavy equipment rests, where projects are discussed and how the structure is reused.
Supports for the load
Heavy equipment rests on calculated structure, with the hall's floor and access points in mind.
Equipment seen working
Free space and light around each piece, so the visitor sees the process running.
Rooms with confidentiality
Insulated rooms to talk processes, formulations and contracts discreetly.
Modular to return
Parts that come apart and reconfigure, to reuse the stand at the next edition.

What weighs on the budget of an ACHEMA stand with large-format equipment and rooms
We do not give figures without seeing your plot: the cost of an ACHEMA stand depends on the metres, the weight of the equipment and the rooms. These are the six factors.
Heavy equipment
Large-format parts need reinforced structure and supports to be shown safely.
Power and services
Every working piece of equipment adds power, connections and, at times, water or compressed air.
Private rooms
Every insulated room adds structure and reduces the open surface of the stand.
Height and second floor
Going above the general height needs approval, a stability calculation and documentation.
Transport and build-up
Producing in Barcelona means planning transport to Frankfurt and a short build-up window.
Reusing the stand
A modular design pays off because ACHEMA is triennial and between editions you can go to other shows.

Questions from ACHEMA exhibitors about their stand and the rules in Frankfurt
The questions that come up most when preparing an ACHEMA stand, a guest show at Messe Frankfurt: the exact 2027 deadlines and heights are set by the DECHEMA manual.
When is ACHEMA 2027?
On 14-18 June 2027 at Messe Frankfurt. The previous edition was in 2024.
What were the figures of ACHEMA 2024?
Per its final report, 2,842 exhibitors from 56 countries and 106,001 participants from 141 countries.
How much does a ACHEMA stand cost?
It depends on the plot, the weight of the equipment and the rooms, so we give no figure without the plan. To orient yourself on the items, see how to calculate a trade show stand budget.
What is the maximum height?
DECHEMA sets it: at guest shows the organiser decides the heights and they should be checked on site.
Can I build a two-floor stand?
It depends on the hall and the organiser. In Messe Frankfurt’s Hall 5.0 two storeys cannot be built.
When should I start designing?
With months to spare, because the show’s manual sets its own deadlines. See the steps to organise a trade show in advance.
How the heavy equipment of your ACHEMA stand reaches Messe Frankfurt
We build the stand in our Barcelona workshop and take it to Messe Frankfurt. We install and dismantle it ourselves, within the organiser's hours.
