Tools get picked up, dropped and picked up again for four days

Exhibiting at EISENWARENMESSE means your display will be physically handled more than at almost any other fair. Buyers weigh a drill in the hand, test a ratchet, open and close a lock. A stand finished for photography rather than for use looks tired by the second afternoon, and a display that makes handling awkward simply does not get touched.

What the International Hardware Fair is and when the 2028 edition opens

EISENWARENMESSE, the International Hardware Fair, is described by its organisers as the world’s leading trade fair for the hardware industry. It is biennial, and after the 2026 edition, which gathered around 2,470 exhibitors, the next runs from 7 to 10 March 2028 at Koelnmesse. It is organised around four product areas: tools, industrial supply, fasteners and fixings, and home improvement. Its visitors are buyers and retailers building an assortment, which is why the fair rewards a stand that lets someone compare across a range quickly rather than one that showcases a single hero product. Four days is also long enough that wear becomes visible, so the difference between a stand that still looks credible on the Friday and one that does not is decided months earlier, in the choice of surfaces and fixings.

Turnkey service for your EISENWARENMESSE stand

One team takes the project from concept to dismantling, including the Koelnmesse service orders. Having our own joinery matters here for a specific reason: the display has to be built to be handled, and that is a construction decision about materials and fixings rather than a styling one. We would rather over-specify a bracket in the workshop than repair a display halfway through the fair.

Projects that back every stand we build

Twenty years of custom stand design across Europe for industrial and technical clients, where robustness matters more than a finish that only survives a photo shoot.

What your hardware stand needs, depending on your range

Four kinds of hardware exhibitor, four different display strategies.

01

Hand and power tool manufacturers

Every product will be picked up dozens of times a day. We build robust display with secure but removable fixings at working height, and specify surfaces that take knocks without showing them.

02

Fasteners, fixings and fittings

Thousands of tiny references that must not become a blur. We use sample boards zoned by type and size, clearly labelled, so a buyer can locate a specification instead of asking your team to search.

03

Industrial supply and workshop equipment

Larger, heavier items that need to be seen in context. We plan floor loading and a layout that reads as a working shop, since that is how the buyer will resell it.

04

Home improvement and DIY ranges

Your buyer is thinking about a retail shelf. We build display that mirrors point of sale, with real facings and packaging visible, because the decision being made is literally about shelf space.

Two years of use out of one structure

The fair is biennial, so a disposable build is expensive per day of use. We make modular, reusable structures: the display walls and sample boards return to our workshop, are repaired and refinished, and are reconfigured for the national hardware and DIY fairs you attend in between, which spreads the cost across several shows instead of one. Anything damaged during a fair is repaired properly back in the joinery, so the next build does not start from a structure nobody has looked at since it was packed.

Frequently asked questions about EISENWARENMESSE stands

What tool and hardware manufacturers ask us before booking their space at Koelnmesse.

When does EISENWARENMESSE 2028 take place?

The International Hardware Fair runs from 7 to 10 March 2028 at Koelnmesse. It is biennial, so the previous edition was in 2026 and there is no edition in 2027.

Will the display survive four days of handling?

That is a materials decision taken at design stage. We specify hard-wearing surfaces and protected edges in the areas that get touched, because a finish chosen for a render will look damaged well before the fair ends.

How many references can we realistically show?

We calculate it before drawing. Given your reference count and the plot size we work out the display metres required and tell you what fits, rather than designing something that only works if you leave half the range at home.

Can you build secure display for high value tools?

Yes. We combine lockable display with open handling samples, so the expensive items are protected overnight while a buyer can still pick something up during the day.

What does your EISENWARENMESSE stand design and build service include?

A turnkey service: design and 3D render, joinery in our own workshop, transport to Cologne, build, dismantling and support during the four days of the fair.

Can we use the same stand at national hardware fairs?

Yes, and with a two-year cycle it is the sensible route. The structure is designed to be reconfigured to different plot sizes so it serves the smaller shows you attend between editions in Cologne.

EISENWARENMESSE 2028 takes place at Koelnmesse

The International Hardware Fair returns to Koelnmesse from 7 to 10 March 2028. The stand is made and assembled in our Barcelona joinery and installed in Cologne by the same crew, so the fixings that hold your product were fitted by people who know the load.

Exhibition stand design and build in Cologne

Koelnmesse runs to strict build windows and the hardware fair fills several halls at once. Because our stands arrive already assembled and labelled, the days on site are spent fitting out the display and merchandising the range, which at this fair is the work that actually matters.

Contemporanea Eventi builds your EISENWARENMESSE stand

You have the dates and a range that has to be compared, handled and specified in four days. Send us the reference count and how much of it must be touchable, and we will tell you what the plot supports before the design starts.
