The competition will feature defending champions Emirates Team New Zealand, alongside challengers such as INEOS Britannia from the UK, Alinghi Red Bull Racing from Switzerland, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli from Italy, NYYC American Magic from the USA, and Orient Express Racing Team from France.
The event will kick off with an opening ceremony on August 22, 2024, followed by several preliminary regattas and the Louis Vuitton Cup Challenger Selection Series. This series will determine which team will compete against the defender in the finals starting on October 12, 2024.
In addition to its sporting significance, the America’s Cup is expected to provide a substantial economic boost to Barcelona, generating approximately 19,000 jobs and around €2.285 billion in economic activity. The event also emphasizes sustainability and modernization, utilizing existing infrastructure in Port Vell rather than constructing new facilities.
The races will take place in a specially prepared area within Port Vell, equipped with spectator zones, beach viewing platforms, and hospitality areas to ensure an exceptional experience for fans.
